Title Tags & Meta Descriptions

These are the first things both Google and your visitors see, so they're worth getting right on every page.

• Each page has enough content to genuinely answer what someone searching for it would want to know
• Content is written for people first - not stuffed with keywords for search engines

• Important pages are linked to from elsewhere on your site, not just accessible via the URL bar
• Links use descriptive text (e.g. "our pricing page") rather than "click here"
• There are no broken internal links pointing to pages that no longer exist

Technical Basics

• Your site loads over HTTPS, not plain HTTP
• Each page has a canonical tag, especially if the same content is reachable through more than one URL
• A robots.txt file exists at your domain root and isn't accidentally blocking your whole site
• A sitemap.xml file exists and has been submitted to Google Search Console
• No important pages are accidentally set to "noindex"

Mobile & Page Experience

• Your site has a viewport meta tag and displays properly on a phone screen
• Text is readable without zooming in
• Buttons and links are large enough to tap accurately on a touchscreen

Social Sharing

• Pages have Open Graph tags (og:title, og:description, og:image) so links look right when shared on Facebook or LinkedIn
• A Twitter card tag is set for sharing on X
